Ruth Ann Barrett

Ruth Ann is the founder, producer and curator of EarthSayers.tv, the voices of sustainability. She brings twenty-five years of experience marketing high tech products to the challenge of moving sustainability into the mainstream of both thought and action. Her love and advocacy for Mother Earth grew out of her learning to sail at a very early age in very contaminated lake waters and continuing with the sport for over sixty years, most recently as a single handed sailor on San Francisco Bay.

In the early 80's she extended her career in association management to the computer industry by becoming CEO of the Hewlett-Packard User Groups and founder and publisher of Interact magazine. Throughout the 80's and into the early 90's she held marketing positions at ComputerLand Corporation, Sun Microsystems, and Informix Software developing along the way a specialization in direct marketing.

Ruth Ann founded RED Direct, a San Francisco-based direct marketing agency, in 1994. Clients included many start-ups such as Commerce One and Ask Jeeves and Red Hat. Since 2007 she has focused on building EarthSayers.tv and becoming a sustainability advocate, relocating EarthSayers.tv to Portland, Oregon in the Fall of 2009. Beginning in 2015 and with EarthSayers' team members she is seeking funding support for the development of WisdomKeepers.tv, the Indigenous voices of sustainability. She holds a M.A. Degree in Information Services from the University of Toledo and a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University. You may reach her by email at ruthann@earthsayers.tv.

JoAnne O'Brien-Levin, Ph.D

JoAnne is the creator of EarthSayer's sustainability taxonomy. In the 1980's, JoAnne was a pioneer in interactive instructional design, winning national awards and attention. In the 1990's she pursued her doctoral degree asking, "How can we create more socially responsible and effective business organizations?" She became involved with Peter Senge's Society for Organizational Learning at MIT and, with two business executives, co-authored The Power of Collaborative Leadership, a book that looks at organizational change efforts from the inside-out.

Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, Dr. O'Brien-Levin collaborated with a Native American spiritual teacher to author a second book, Business Revolution through Ancestral Wisdom. It explores how indigenous wisdom can help transform business. She also served as editor for a third book, In the Leadership Mode: Concepts, Practices, and Tools for a Different Leadership, which puts forward a new view of leadership that is distinct from management and provides tools to help more people enact leadership to achieve real change. In 2010, JoAnne co-founded Business TreX with the intention of bringing business leaders together for transformational explorations of a new business paradigm based in Nature. Business TreX is a unique collaboration, bringing JoAnne's perspectives together with those of a biologist and a businessman, and uses the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador as its classroom.
